BS 1003 OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY - A survey of the historical background and literary content of the Old Testament. The themes, divisions, and personalities of the Old Testament and its relationship to the New Testament will be considered. Three hours credit.
BS 1103 NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY - A survey of the historical background and literary content of the New Testament with special emphasis given to the Intertestamental Period, the gospels, the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the origin and development of the church during the first century. Three hours credit.
BS 1202 DISPENSATIONAL TRUTHS - God's plan for the ages as seen in the distinct dispensations, beginning with the creation of time and extending into eternities. Two hours credit.
BS 1213 BIBLE DOCTRINES - An in-depth survey of the fundamental doctrines of the Christian church and their implication for the contemporary Christian. Three hours credit.
BS 2033 PENTATEUCH - Each of the five books is presented with emphasis on the historical date and divine plan. The Patriarchs, the Exodus, and the Law are examined to gain an understanding of God's purpose for the nation of Israel. Prerequisite: BX 2503. Three hours credit.
BS 2123 ACTS - Christ's continuing ministry is presented with special emphasis given to the work of the Holy Spirit in the Early Church through the lives of Peter and Paul. Message, motives, and methods are examined, and their principles and practices applied to the church today. Three hours credit.
BS 2213 THE HOLY SPIRIT - An in-depth study of the doctrines of the Holy Spirit and the application to the believer. The gifts of the Holy Spirit will be examined in detail. Three hours credit.
BS 2222 THE POWER OF PRAYER - Prayer as a privilege and responsibility of every Christian will be examined. Prayers of great men of God both in the Old and New Testament will be examined. Prayers of Christ will be studied. Theological aspect of prayer will be researched. Two hours credit.
BS 2232 PRINCIPLES OF FAITH - The meaning and dynamics of faith as the foundation for all Christian experience will be explored. Historical and contemporary applications of the doctrine of faith will be examined in the light of scriptures. Development of the student's faith will be the focus of this course. Two hours credit.
BS 2303 GREEK I - A study of the vocabulary, grammar, and syntax of New Testament Greek, which will serve to prepare the student to read the New Testament in the original language. Three hours credit.
BS 2313 GREEK II - A continuation of the vocabulary, grammar, and syntax of Koine Greek, leading to a reading knowledge of the language. The reading of John's first epistle in the Greek New Testament will be the goal of the course. Three hours credit.
BS 2503 BIBLE STUDY METHODOLOGY - A survey of the resources, methods, and attitudes of Bible study. The goal of the course will be to foster and strengthen faith in the Bible as the revealed Word of God for today. The ability of the student to read and understand the Bible will be the focus of this course. Three hours credit.
BS 3012 JOSHUA - An analysis and exposition of the book of Joshua. Israel's conquest and possession of the Promised Land is examined thoroughly. Attention is also directed to the geographical, historical and religious context of this period. Two hours credit.
BS 3013 POETIC & WISDOM LITERATUREE OF THE OLD TESTAMENT - A study of the poetic literature of the Old Testament, with emphasis given to the various kinds of poetry, such as the dramatic, the gnomic (wisdom), and the religious. Also, attention will be given to the literary structure, the figures of speech, the rhetorical nature, and the unique characteristics of Hebrew poetry: parallelism. Students will examine the devotional nature of poetical literature as it impacts their lives in coping with the stresses of contemporary society. Three hours credit.
BS 3023 HISTORICAL BOOKS - This course examines the history of Israel, God's chosen nation, as revealed in the historical books of the Old Testament. The course will focus both on history and an interpretation of the strategic role of Israel in fulfilling God's plan of salvation. Three hours credit.
BS 3102 THE LIFE AND MINISTRY OF PAUL - A study of Paul and his impact on Christianity in the first century. Special attention will be given to the pastoral and theological concerns of Paul as the leader of the missionary effort to the Gentiles. Two hours credit.
BS 3113 HEBREWS - An in-depth study of the book of Hebrews, showing the fulfillment of the Old Covenant in the New Testament with emphasis upon its Christology. Three hours credit.
BS 3122 GALATIANS - A study of the content and interpretation of the book of Galatians, showing the development of Pauline theology in its missionary context. The significance of the book for contemporary Christians will also be explored. Two Hours credit.
BS 3132 I AND II THESSALONIANS - An exegesis of I and II Thessalonians based on the English text. Major emphasis is placed on the great doctrines of these books and their practical application to daily living. Two hours credit.
BS 3133 ROMANS - An expository and theological study with emphasis placed on foundational Christian doctrines, practical Christian living, and the place of the Jew and Gentile in God's plan. Three hours credit.
BS 3143 I AND II CORINTHIANS - A theological study of Paul's epistles to the Corinthians against the background of the social and moral conditions of that day. Emphasis will be given to the Pauline doctrine and its application to contemporary issues. Three hours credit.
BS 3153 GOSPEL AND EPISTLES OF JOHN - An expository study of the gospel and epistles of John in the light of the theological significance of the apostle's stated purpose. Emphasis is placed on Christ's deity and His work. Three hours credit.
BS 3212 HEALINGS, MIRACLES AND DELIVERANCE - This course examines the modern healing and deliverance movement in the light of biblical principles and practices. Explores the place of healing and miracles in the work and ministry of the church today. Two hours credit.
BS 3213 THEOLOGY I - The study of the origin, nature, fall, and destiny of man and angels as revealed in Scriptures and the person and work of Christ. Special emphasis will be placed on the application of the finished work of Christ in reconciling men to God, including justification, regeneration, adoption, and sanctification. Three hours credit.
BS 3223 THEOLOGY II - A study of the doctrine of the church universal: its origin, organization, and scope. An examination of the course and climax of the dispensations and covenants found in the Bible will also be studied. Three hours credit.
BS 3233 CHRISTIAN DEFENSE OF THE FAITH - A biblical study designed to develop a positive Christian view against major worldviews. Emphasis will be placed upon New Testament heretical thought as well as modern divergent thought and the biblical response. Three hours credit.
BS 3313 GREEK III - A study of advanced Greek grammar. Selected portions of the Greek New Testament will be translated and interpreted. Three hours credit.
BS 3323 GREEK IV - A continuation of Greek III, which develops the ability of the student to read and exegete texts from the Greek New Testament. Three hours credit.
BS 3423 HEBREW I - A beginning course in Hebrew, emphasizing vocabulary and syntax. Three hours credit.
BS 3433 HEBREW II - A continuation of Hebrew I with translation and exegesis of selected Old Testament Scriptures. Three hours credit.
BS 3602 BIBLICAL GEOGRAPHY - A geographical history of the Bible world in light of ancient context and archeological evidences. Map work is required. Two hours credit.
BS 4013 ISAIAH - An analytical and doctrinal study of Isaiah's prophecies, the historical backgrounds of the prophet's time, the Messianic message and the coming Millennial Reign. Three hours credit.
BS 4023 MINOR PROPHETS - A study of the life and times of the twelve minor prophets - Hosea through Malachi - as they relate to the history of Israel and Judah. The prophets' messages will be examined and applied to today's world in light of the religious, political, and social conditions. Three hours credit.
BS 4042 HOSEA - A study of the personal life and prophecy of Hosea to Israel, with focus upon the broken heart of God over the sins of His people, God's love for His people and the application to believers today. Two hours credit.
BS 4093 SPECIAL TOPICS - A 4000-level Biblical Studies elective created to provide greater flexibility in degree plans. The course content may change from semester to semester, and the number of credit hours may range from one hour to three hours.
BS 4103 DANIEL AND REVELATION - The revelation of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God as seen through the prophecies of the Bible. Three hours credit.
BS 4112 PASTORAL EPISTLES - An expository treatment of the first and second epistle to Timothy and the epistle to Titus, which Paul wrote to provide guidelines and application for the local church. Two hours credit.
BS 4122 PRISON EPISTLES - A study of Paul's exhortation and instructions to the Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon to determine how Christ becomes the believer's model and divine source for Christian living. Two hours credit.
BS 4132 GENERAL EPISTLES - A doctrinal and practical study of James, I and II Peter, and Jude. Background materials examined, with the major emphasis placed upon the practical application for godly living. Two hours credit.
BS 4202 BIBLICAL TYPOLOGY - A comprehensive study of divine types as found in Scripture. A type is a preordained representation wherein certain persons, events and institutions of the New Testament. Two hours credit.
BS 4212 CONTEMPORARY THEOLOGY - A study of the trends in modern theological thought and an evaluation of these in light of biblical Christianity. Several modern movements and their impact on the church will be considered. Two hours credit.
BS 4232 BIBLICAL HERMENEUTICS - A comprehensive study of the formation of the Bible. Emphasis will be placed on autograph controversy, date, language as it relates to the principles of exegesis, and particularly the interpretation of Scripture in light of its historical, grammatical, and biblical content. Two hours credit.
